Excerpt from Form in Civilization: Collected Papers on Art Labour
These papers are here reprinted with only minor alterations. Some repetition is almost in evitable in separate essays on kindred subjects, or difl'erent aspects of the same subject, when they have been written at various times. The several papers are generally related by being to gether an attempt to consider civilization from the angle of Labour and Art. I wish here to thank the editors of the Hibbert Journal, the London Meremy, and other magazines for permitting me to include several articles.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book presents a series of essays exploring civilization through the lens of labor and art. The author examines how the cities and towns we build are a reflection of the spirit of their inhabitants and how they in turn shape our lives. The book delves into architecture as a form of expression, advocating for a rejection of historical styles and an embrace of functional and vernacular design. It argues that civic pride, local historical awareness, and a desire for improvement are essential for the well-being of communities. The author also examines housing and furnishing, emphasizing the importance of quality, efficiency, and the avoidance of excessive ornamentation.
