Excerpt from Observations on Hamlet
When we consider the immense bulk to which the later editions of the works of our immortal Dramatist are swelled, it naturally leads us to imagine that Industry must have exhausted all her patience, and Ingenuity her conjectures, in attempting to elucidate his unrivalled compositions. Yet the contrary appears to be the real state of the cafe, and the press still teems with new Shakspeares and fresh Shakspeariana. This "vast garden of criticism" still puts forth its flowers and its weeds, and invites the attention of the labourer and the florist. A solitary wanderer, in casually passing through this delightful spot, has accidentally discovered a flower, which appears to have hitherto escaped the notice of its more studious admirers.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book examines the possibility that Shakespeare wrote Hamlet as an allegorical censure of Mary, Queen of Scots, due to the striking parallels between their lives. The author argues that the play's story, characters, and themes were intentionally crafted to mirror Mary's experiences, reflecting the political and social climate of Shakespeare's time. Through a detailed analysis of both the play and historical records, the author explores the extent to which Shakespeare used Hamlet to criticize Mary's actions and the prejudices against her. This intriguing theory sheds new light on the complexities of Hamlet and the broader context in which it was written. The author's meticulous research and insightful analysis provide a compelling argument for considering Hamlet as a work of both literary and historical significance, offering a fresh perspective on one of Shakespeare's most renowned tragedies. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
