Excerpt from William McCutchan Morrison, Twenty Years in Central Africa
This book has been prepared at the joint request of the American Presbyterian Congo Mission (a. P. C. M.) and of the Executive Committee of Foreign Missions of the Presbyterian Church in the United States. Its purpose is to make the world, and especially our own church, better acquainted with the character and the work of Dr. Mor rison. No attempt has been made to eulogiae the man, but rather to give a simple account of what he did. We have felt that an honest and unadorned statement of the truth regarding him would be a higher encomium than any ideal picture that could be drawn.
The writer has had access to Dr. Morrison's personal papers and to the documents on file in the offices of the Mis sion at Luebo and of the Executive Committee in Nashville. It was also his high privilege to be intimately associated with Dr. Morrison's work for six years.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book engagingly narrates the life of William McCutchan Morrison, a devoted missionary who devoted twenty years to serving the people of the Congo. It depicts his early life, his call to missions, and his arduous journey to Africa, where he dedicated himself to preaching the gospel and translating the Bible into the local language. The book delves into the challenges Morrison faced, including the Belgian Congo's oppressive regime, which violated the Treaty of Berlin's guarantee of religious freedom. Despite these hardships, Morrison's unwavering faith and commitment to serving the Congolese people shine through. The account also reveals Morrison's significant contributions to linguistics, including his development of a grammar and dictionary for the Baluba language. Through its vivid personal anecdotes and historical context, this book offers a compelling glimpse into the life of a remarkable missionary whose work left a lasting impact on the people of the Congo. Its insights on faith, perseverance, and the transformative power of service make it an inspiring read for anyone interested in missions, African history, or the human spirit's resilience.
