Excerpt from The Exchanges and Speculation, Vol. 20
Whatever the merits or defects of this work may be, it embodies fairly continuous Observation Of the workings of the exchanges for more than twelve years by the author, who during seven years of that time was a financial writer for two New York newspapers, and for nearly the same length of time has lectured on the exchanges, to students at two universities in New York City. From the keen questions and dis eussions of scores Of these students, many Of whom have been and are connected with banking and brok erage concerns, much of the material in this book has been threshed out, and it has been my effort to dis cuss the very questions that such teaching experience indicates are of vital interest to young men in the busi ness world.
