The dentist who originally held it his duty mechanically to repair diseased or lost dental tissue is now confronted with a problem the vitality of which, if he has a sincere interest in the health of his patients and in the development of his profession, demands a new study of the septic conditions of the mouth.

This book is intended for the practicing dentist as well as for the student. It aims to give a clear understanding of the pathology, treatment, and prevention of oral le sions, and to familiarize the student with the recognition and nature of certain infectious diseases which may be caused by them.
