Sinopsis

A Course in Electrical Engineering, Vol. 2: Alternating Currents offers a clear introduction to the theory and practice of alternating-current technology. This classic text presents the fundamentals in an accessible way, with illustrations and practical examples that bridge theory and laboratory work.

This volume is designed to be elementary in character and includes problems and laboratory testing methods to reinforce learning. It also points readers to complementary works in the series for deeper analysis of alternating currents and related apparatus.

  • Foundations of alternating current theory, including sine waves, vector representation, and polyphase systems.

  • Hands-on approaches with illustrative problems and laboratory test methods.

  • Coverage of key machines and devices, such as alternators, transformers, and measurement instruments.

  • Guidance on practical topics like regulation, operation, and three-phase systems.

Ideal for readers seeking a solid, accessible gateway to alternating-current theory and its engineering applications.

Reseña del editor

Excerpt from A Course in Electrical Engineering, Vol. 2: Alternating Currents

This volume is intended for those who have such a knowledge of direct currents as is given by Volume I. It presupposes no knowledge of alternating currents. The first two chapters are devoted to the development of the fundamental laws of alter nating currents and alternating-current circuits. Subsequent chapters consider the application of these fundamental laws to alternating-current measurements, to polyphase circuits, to alternating-current machinery, and to power transmission. A chapter on illumination and photometry has been included, as a brief discussion of the underlying principles of light and of light measurements is important in a general course in electrical engineering.
