Sinopsis

Excerpt from Winnie and His Pets

There were no neighbors living near, and the village boys seldom came that way, only in autumn, when the white nuts were drop ping from the old hickories; and then a whole tr00p of noisy, rosy-cheeked lads would come every morning to search among the rustling leaves for the nuts which had fallen during the night.

Winnie, who was very bashful from having always lived almost alone, dared not go near them, but he would hide among the bushes or behind the fence, and watch them and listen to their happy voices and merry laughter.

Every morning Winnie would get up early and await the com ing of the boys; but when it stormed, and they did not come as usual, he would feel very rest less and unhappy.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book is a touching autobiography of a young boy named Winnie. Winnie lives a lonely life in a rural area with his father, who is rarely home, and Ursa, an elderly housekeeper. With no siblings, friends, or neighbors nearby, Winnie often feels isolated. One day, as Winnie is planting flowers in his garden, he encounters a friendly boy named Hie, who has a lot of pets. Hie gives Winnie a gray squirrel and a robin, who quickly become Winnie's cherished companions. However, Winnie realizes that his pets are happier living freely in nature and sets them free. The author emphasizes the importance of kindness and compassion towards animals through the central theme. Set against the backdrop of a rural community, the book celebrates the power of friendship and its ability to bring joy and fulfillment to one's life.
