Excerpt: ... The widow is dead and buried, and no man knows who or what she was. Two thousand years have passed away, yet the spiritual force expressed in those two mites is working in the world in an ever-widening circle. It exercises an influence far greater to-day than a thousand years ago. A thousand years hence it will exercise an influence far greater than it does to-day. The spiritual force with which these two mites were endowed has caused them to pass out of the dominion of time and space. They live and work still as a means by which a Spirit revealed itself and was accepted and blessed by the Lord. Without them that Spirit could not have effected its object. Filled with that Spirit they transcend all limitations. So it is with the spiritual offerings of all God's children. The material in which the Spirit clothes itself appears to be mean and small and bound by countless bonds. We put a coin into a box and think of it too often as a mere piece of metal. It need not be, it should not be, a mere piece of metal. A mere piece of metal cannot effect any spiritual work. It is bound by all the limitations of the world. But filled with the Spirit it overleaps all those limitations. As vehicles of Divine compassion and desire, pieces of metal do convert the world, do bring the Gospel of our Lord to heathen souls, do build up a spiritual temple, do bring near a Eevelation of Jesus Christ. They work in China, or in India, or in the islands of the sea, in the furthest bounds of the globe. Whither the Spirit is to go they go, what the Spirit is to work they work, for the Spirit of the Lord is upon them. (6) The spiritual force transcends material weights and measures.
