Sinopsis

The Madman, His Parables and Poems is a collection of philosophical and spiritual writings by Kahlil Gibran, originally published in 1918. The book is divided into two parts: the first consisting of a series of parables and the second consisting of a collection of poems. The parables are short stories that explore themes such as love, freedom, and the human condition. They are written in a simple and poetic style, often featuring characters who are searching for meaning in their lives. The parables are intended to provoke thought and encourage readers to reflect on their own experiences. The second part of the book is a collection of poems that explore similar themes. The poems are written in Gibran's signature style, which is characterized by its use of metaphor and imagery. They are often romantic and melancholic, exploring the beauty and pain of life.Throughout the book, Gibran's writing is infused with a sense of spirituality and mysticism. He draws on a range of religious and philosophical traditions, including Christianity, Islam, and Sufism, to explore the nature of the human soul and its relationship to the divine.Overall, The Madman, His Parables and Poems is a deeply philosophical and poetic work that explores some of the most fundamental questions of human existence. It is a timeless classic that continues to inspire and provoke readers today. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Reseña del editor

While most of Gibran's early writings were in Arabic, most of his work published after 1918 was in English. His first book for the publishing company Alfred A. Knopf, in 1918, was "The Madman," a slim volume of aphorisms and parables written in biblical cadence somewhere between poetry and prose. Gibran is considered to be the third most widely read poet in history, behind Shakespeare and Lao-Tzu.
