Pronounce ch as k. 29 The branches of the superior Maxillary nerve are divisible into three groups:--1st group, those given off in the sphe'nomax'illary fossa. 2nd group, those in the infra-oYbital canal. 3rd group, those on the face. 30 SUPERIOR MAMILLARY NERVE. Branches given off in the sphe'no-max'illary fos'sa:--The orbital branch, two from Meckel's ganglion, and posterior dental branches. The orbital branch divides into two branches: thetgm'poral and ma'lar. 31 SUPERIOR MAXILLARY NERVE. Branches in the infra orbital canal:--The middle dental, and Anterior dental. BRANCHES ON THE FACE. The mtis'cular and cuta'neous branches. 32 The fifth nerve spreads out into a semilunar ganglion, the Casserian ganglion which divides into three branches; the ophthalmic/ superior max'illary, and inferior maxillary. The inferior max'illary is the largest of the three. It divides into two trunks, external and internal. 1 Pronounee opthal'mic. 33 INFERIOR MAx'ILLARY NERVE. Branches of the external trunk, 5--the masseteric, two temporal, the buccal and internal pterygoid nerve. Branches of the internal trunk, 3--the gustatory nerve, inferior dental nerve, anterior auricular nerve. The inferior dental nerve gives off one branch, the my'lohyoide'an nerve. 34 The inferior dental nerve divides into two terminal branches:--The incisive branch and the mental branch.
