Laboratory, Field And Project Guide In Elementary Agriculture is a book written by Gustavus Adolphus Schmidt and originally published in 1920. The book is a comprehensive guide for students and teachers of elementary agriculture, covering topics such as soil science, plant growth and development, animal husbandry, and agricultural machinery. The book is divided into three main sections: laboratory exercises, field exercises, and project work. The laboratory exercises provide hands-on experience for students to learn about soil analysis, plant nutrition, and plant breeding. The field exercises cover topics such as crop rotation, pest management, and livestock management. The project work section provides guidance for students to plan and execute their own agricultural projects, such as starting a garden or raising chickens.Throughout the book, Schmidt emphasizes the importance of practical experience in learning about agriculture. He encourages students to observe and experiment with the natural world, and to think critically about the best practices for sustainable agriculture.Overall, Laboratory, Field And Project Guide In Elementary Agriculture is a valuable resource for anyone interested in learning about agriculture, from students to teachers to hobby farmers. While some of the information may be outdated, the book provides a solid foundation for understanding the principles of agriculture and the importance of sustainable farming practices. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Every sincere teacher of elementary agriculture is striving to make his teaching so practical that it will lead to worthwhile accomplishments. This means that he must not neglect laboratory, field, and project work. The purpose of this little book is to act as a practical guide to such teachers. All the exercises are arranged seasonally so that the various phases of the work may be studied at a time when they will mean most to a child. The exercises in this book are intended primarily to cover two years work. They are equally adaptable, however, to courses of shorter length where more time per week is allotted to the subject. In both cases, a teacher should consider the outline so elastic as not only to change the order of the exercises when she considers it wise to do so, but also to include others which she considers better fitted to the particular needs of the community in which she teaches. In the book will be found enough material for laboratory, field, and project work to meet the requirements of most states. Throughout the book emphasis has been put upon those topics in which a child in the 7th, 8th, and 9th grades can take part. The book should be used in connection with some good elementary argicultural text book. Although it is primarily adapted to use in conjunction with An Introduction to Agriculture by Upham and Schmidt, published by D. Appleton Co..
