Reseña del editor

In adding the 1920 laws of theW hist Qub of New York, and before my little book goes into its new printing this autumn, I have gone carefully over the text to see wherein I could improve or strengthen it in any way. But since my revision two years ago there have been few changes in the principles of the game, and the only development, if any, has been toward conservatism in the original declarations i, e., stronger NoT rump, Spade, and Heart declarations as nothing makes for better team-work between Partners than confidence in the soundness, and the correct inference to be drawn, from the initial bid. I have laid particular emphasis on the difference in the message conveyed by a major or minor suit the importance of the pre-emptive bids, when the hand is sufficiently strong to admit of them and the over-bid of the Partner sN o-T rump, whenS econd Player has passed, with a comparatively strong hand only.
