Sinopsis

My artwork holds free expression and humor in a delicate equipoise. It was important have my work seen, so I made viewers to look at the work. The viewers’ importance may have been overrated, but they came, and looked hypnotized by the experience.

These portraits of mostly Los Angeles art world people (some artists, many gallerists and art critics) are made from wood and layered to make slightly dimensional but basically flat pieces. A few can stand alone; most lean or can be attached to a wall. They are not to scale, but proportioned to human dimensions (standing figures are approx 5-feet to 6-feet tall). This is a process I developed out of some cartooning that I have done throughout my art career.

In addition to these art world figures, I have also done a series of old-time comedians, and dog portraits.
