Shannon Basinger-Kotz and Vince Kotz are a mother-and-son team from Iowa. They are the author and illustrator of four children's books: What If a T-Rex Liked Chocolate?, The Little Lost Nutcracker, Marlene's Christmas Wish, and Hero of the Black Hills. For their new Gypsy and the Pirate series, they have adopted the pen names Gypsy and Vince Vagabond. Like the characters in the story, they have a love of traveling, history, museums, nature, music, and acting and directing. They star in their own animated series, Fearsome Friends, which is available on their Instagram page.
