My name is Beverly Jones-Durr. I was born and raised in Birmingham Alabama. My father worked for U.S. Steel and my mother was a housekeeper. I am the youngest of three sisters. I have always had a passion for reading. Actually it was my love of books that lead to my second passion…running. I ran everyday to the library after school. Why? I had to be home before 5pm and I did not want to waste any time, so I ran. Traveling the globe with my soldier husband made finishing college a challenge but I earned a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood- Elementary Education and a Bachelors Degree in Legal Policy. I also have Masters Degree in Contract Management. I am fortunate to have retired early from federal service and I am able to follow my true passion. I do a lot of things. My organization, Beverly Jones-Durr Enterprises includes Every Child Has a Story, where I strive to reach out into the proverbial village it takes to raise a child, developing and teaching writing workshops for children and young adults. My programs successfully enhance self-esteem through writing, speech making and creativity. My Sistahs are Doing it provides a platform for women that motivates, empowers and encourages. My Gifted Genie Boutique carries my personal paintings, sketches and craft items. I love art! I am one of those people literally moved by art. When we lived in Europe I was fortunate to visit the Louvre in Paris France! I haven’t been the same since. Ooh La-La! I don’t have a favorite style. As a matter of fact I paint what feels good to me and I love sketching portraits from photographs. I am also a Motivational Speaker and a Life Coach helping people find balance in their life.
