From the Deep: Queen Inanna Dies and Comes Back to Life Again - Tapa blanda

Sinopsis

In this retelling of an ancient Sumerian myth, Suzanne Banay Santo creates a compelling account of Inanna’s journey to the underworld to undergo her own death and rebirth. The tale begins with the Queen of Heaven and Earth’s wish to visit her sister Erishkigal, who is grieving the loss of her husband. At this intrusion, Erishkigal’s minions strip the queen of her finery step-by-step. At last she is left on a meathook to die. Rescued by the intercession of her lady-in-waiting, Inanna returns to life and to her domain, where she encounters her consort Dumuzi who has neither noted her absence, nor taken steps to assist her during her ordeal. As Queen Inanna decides on his fate and that of his sister, 'From the Deep' gives us a glimpse into an ancient story of descent and resurrection which offers a lyrical guide to our own transformational journeys to the depths, at the same time that we enjoy a tale of the original love goddess, Inanna, Queen of Heaven and Earth.
