He becomes the enforcer of an old Indian legend, which he believes can free him from the wrath of the gods. Rice Bay is his domain, and he learns to protect it with a brutality that puts fear into the local residents of Tanner's Lake. The book unfolds in northern Minnesota as the frozen lake ice melts revealing the Griffin's work from the past winter....
