In the present time, we seem bombarded politically, socially, and economically with ceaseless chaos and unrest. We are buffeted with ascendent authoritarian governments, idealogues, and dictators. We are assaulted with massive upheavals in the natural world-fires, pandemics, floods, and droughts-that expose dangerous rifts in the social compact and leave the most vulnerable people at increased risk. We are also at the mercy of egotistical and selfish business concerns that take devious advantage of unhealthy policy and cause devastating market crashes, rampant inflation, and severe disruptions to global trade and travel. The feeling of being adrift in a tempest and at the mercy of a storm is understandable. We long for an anchor-for hope.
In his capstone work, Spaulding examines the opposing spiritual forces that are ever-present just beyond the veil of outward history and visible events, tracing out an arc of spiritual activity from the ancient world to today. Beginning with the life of Siddhartha Gautama (the Buddha) and proceeding through the mystery centers of ancient Greece, Spaulding then focuses on the events in the life of Christ that flowed forth to accomplish the turning point of time. Spaulding traces these pathways further and arrives at the present day. He introduces the Opponent who stands behind the dangers facing mankind as well as the spiritual being who stands ready as Advocate to aid those individuals who take up the task of bringing the highest ideals of beauty, justice, and truth into the world-THE NEW SPIRIT OF TRUTH.
