Sinopsis

The United States and Peru are located on the same continent and both were conquests, but each has followed opposite paths through history. While one capitalizes on the present and future, the other is buried in the past. While the United States exudes power, riches, and nice modern cities, Peru contributes a rich millenary culture, fine sceneries, and natural landscapes. One shows technological treasures, the other shows cultural treasures and ancient traditions. One is characterized by development, progress, and comfort, the other by backwardness and poverty. In Parallel Worlds, the author uses photographs to compare and contrast these two countries. Paying specific attention to architecture, Olea tries to capture beauty within the chaos and monotony of a city and the beauty, creativity, and life of rural areas.
