Sinopsis

What if you think you've got the wrong gender? Teenager Joey is struggling to work out who she is. She feels good when she's fell-running - leaping over rocks in the mountains - and when she's at home online, because in both places, in totally different ways, she can be privately free to explore her identity. But she's terrified there's something wrong with her, and that she has some kind of 'condition' that needs curing. Worst of all, her horrible secret threatens to destroy the relationship she has with the people she loves most - her parents and her best friend, Bex. 'Morph' is the debut novel by author and former school headteacher Jill Clough. Set amid the inspiring landscape of the English Lake District, this powerful, award-nominated book is both a thoughtful study of gender - one of the great social issues of our time - and a moving coming-of-age story ... with a Millennial twist.

Acerca del autor

Jill Clough has been addicted to writing - stories, poems, plays - almost since she learnt to talk. After graduating in English she trained as a secondary-school teacher as a stopgap (fully intending to be the new Jane Austen) but became addicted to English-teaching instead. After raising three children, she attended Hull University for a PhD in English, during which time she met the poet Philip Larkin. From 1987, she was a headteacher in a variety of schools, including a boarding school in Surrey and a Brighton state school in special measures. Upon moving to the Lake District she worked as an educational consultant, mentor and trainer across the UK, and contributed to numerous academic publications. She also began writing fiction again, joining the PhD in Creative Writing course at Newcastle University. 'Morph' is the first of Jill Clough's published novels, but, says Jill, 'many more have been written over the years and will soon get to see the light of day!'
