Eleanor Jenkins is a sixteen year old schoolgirl in the same church. The circumstances which bring them together reveal a maturity beyond Eleanor’s years, and a platonic friendship develops between them. Later, David is then asked to accompany her when she sings, first in the church, and then in an old people’s home. But it is thought that it is inappropriate for them to spend so much time together practising, and so James Butler, the church pastor is asked to speak to David. The singing is stopped and there is no more need to practise together. A few months later, they are brought together again, but this time on a car journey.
