Hardcover. Condición: Near Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. 1st Edition. Tight Binding. First edition stated; printing not specified. Lincoln, Nebraska, 1981; cataloged under J & L Lee Co. Orange-red cloth hardcover with gilt spine lettering. Signed by author. Bob Devaney inscribed the front free endpaper in blue ink to "a great gal" and "a good Husker fan." The recipient's name is obscured by a dark overprint. The cloth shows light rubbing and minor wear at the corners and spine ends. The dust jacket is in a clear protective cover and shows toning, scattered marks, edge creasing, and small tears and chips, most noticeable at the spine head and lower rear edge. The visible page edges and photographed interior pages show light age-toning. Please Zoom Photos. DESCRIPTION Bob Devaney tells the story of his coaching career, including the rise of Nebraska football and the Cornhuskers' back-to-back national championships in 1970 and 1971. The book was assembled from recorded conversations with Devaney and material from his scrapbooks and family photo albums. His collaborators included Lincoln sportswriters Mike Babcock and Randy York, sports editor Virgil Parker, and Nebraska sports information director Don Bryant. Devaney's handwritten reference to a "good Husker fan" gives this signed first edition a personal connection to the Nebraska football community. The dust jacket, designed by Win Mumma, features Devaney's portrait on the front and a photograph of the coach with his collaborators on the back. Inscribed by Author(s).
