Julio Ricci, one of Uruguay's most important and prolific writers, lives in the capital of Montevideo where, until his recent retirement, he taught linguistics. This collection, his first volume of work published in English, includes stories from several of his books. His stories portray characters, often social outcasts and misfits, who live at the edges of society in the Uruguayan capital, where the absurd is often a way of life. Ricci views this absurdity with a mixture of black humour and delight.
