This is an insightful exploration of the work of collaborative duo spmb. This publication collates a decade of creative output by Eduardo Aquino and Karen Shanski who operate under the moniker spmb - an acronym acknowledging the duo's divergent connections to Sao Paulo and Manitoba. Aquino and Shanski, both trained as architects, are active on the street and in the gallery through a practice that is particularly concerned with examining public space. Rather than follow the tradition of the monograph, centred in the production of the individual artist, it rethinks the artist's book, investigating the relationships of spmb's work within a larger context. "Complex Order" presents a collection of spmb's own works and texts alongside projects and writings conceived by other artists and architects and generating a network of relationships around common ideas.
