Look Back On England

Cloth. Condición: Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. First Edition. First Edition Hardback This book takes our personal environment as its starting point, on a journey into history. The past is seen from the perspective of the present and shows that England's past lives visibly and can be appreciated by understanding what we see rather than by studying dates, battles and family trees. The author follows England's progress through the centuries while considering how specific regions have made their contribution. Soil, climate, rocks, buildings, industry, while varying from area to area, form links and creates a nation which is more than just the sum of its parts. And the processes continue, providing fuel for speculation on the shape of things to come. Ian Pleeth's excellent photographs are an integral part of the book and were specially commissioned to complement John Burke's rich text, which takes us on a memorable journey round England and helps us to see living history around us. Illustrated. Nº de ref. del artículo: 024897
