The events of September 11 and the war on terrorism have changed the ways in which we think about war. Is the Christian philosophy of "just war" still relevant to our times? He concludes that by altering the theory to fit their own perspectives, church leaders consistently missed the opportunity to engage in significant public debate. At the same time, Reed highlights those leaders who balanced their teachings with the changing international landscape.
