Geriatrics and geriatric psychiatry are a turning point in their history: major growth in clinical interest and research activity has sparked fresh discoveries in the field. No longer are senility and depression viewed solely as a fate in growing old, an unavoidable concomitant of ageing. This work has been developed in response to major advances in the field. As in the first edition of this work, well-known contributors offer their collective expertise on emerging issues in the psychiatry of ageing, providing mental health practitioners with a focused but comprehesive review of the field.
