Hardcover. Illustrated by the author. Preface by Louis Untermeyer. Introduction by Pierre Dussert. Small 4to. Patterned paper over boards with green spine lettering, pictorial price-clipped dust jacket. (Ca. 75pp). Numerous line drawings. Near fine/very good. Boards ever-so-slightly bowed, as usual; mild jacket wear. Handsome, tight first edition of these posthumously-published verses long thought lost. This copy is extra-illustrated with a unique frontispiece: Tipped facing the title page is a Typed Note Signed from Untermeyer, 1p, 4½" X 5½", Newtown, CT, 29 January 1972. Addressed to Marshall Bean. Fine. On imprinted "from the desk of Louis Untermeyer" stationery, the prolific poet/anthologist/essayist/translator/critic/editor (1885-1977) writes cordially to a Maine educator that "I regret that I cannot write the poem you request. What with a crowded desk and on overcrowded mind, I am hard put to get away for a short respite." Boldly signed in blue ballpoint. Nº de ref. del artículo: 47169
