This handbook provides a comprehensive but not exhaustive list of the names and addresses of principal local studies collections, local record offices, local history societies, local history journals, and museums with local studies collections. Cross references are given, linking the new county areas to the old counties. There are also maps showing the changes in boundaries in 1974 or, in the case of Greater London, in 1965.
