How do you put into words the effect a book like Where She Went had on you? It's like trying to describe first love or that first mouthful of ice cold water after a run on a hot summer's day. Words are not enough to describe those feelings, the only way people know such a true moment is when they go through it themselves and that's what Where She Went was for me, an indescribable experience. No amount of praise will do it true justice so please bear with me whilst I try and compose my thoughts, I'm still in awe, blinded by this books light. Where She Went has a much more mature feel to it than If I Stay, it's regretful, painful and honest. The book is turbulent and raw but, like shattered glass, Gayle Forman handles the matter gently and delicately; holding up the broken fragments into the light for us to inspect and showing us the quiet, fragile beauty to it. Gayle Forman is a poet. ( Jess Hearts Books 2011-03-11)
How can someone make heartache, anguish and gut wrenching devastation so beautiful? I still don't know the answer to this question, I just know that it's a skill Forman has mastered and wow does she weild this weapon well.
I can't describe to you how I feel right now. It's like smiling through tears, speaking when you have nothing to say, dreaming in daylight. Where She Went is utterly breathtaking. It's realising that grief has to power to bring you to your knees, but that love can be the hand that holds you steady whilst you get your balance. A book about love and second chances and living, truly living. I don't think there is enough space or time or words for me to express how much I hope you read this book.( The Crooked Shelf 2011-03-03)
If you had a second chance at first love . . . would you take it?
It's been three years since Adam's love saved Mia after the accident that annihilated life as she knew it . . . and three years since Mia walked out of Adam's life forever.
Now living on opposite coasts, Mia is Julliard's rising star and Adam is LA tabloid fodder, thanks to his new rock star status and celebrity girlfriend. When Adam gets stuck in New York by himself, chance brings the couple together again, for one last night. As they explore the city that has become Mia's home, Adam and Mia revisit the past and open their hearts to the future-and each other.
Told from Adam's point of view in the spare, powerful prose that defined If I Stay, Where She Went explores the devastation of grief, the promise of new hope, and the flame of rekindled romance.
