Martindale provides evaluated information on drugs and medicines used throughout the world. It is prepared by the editorial staff at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain and a team of 14 experts, with the aim of provide practising pharmacists with an independent global summary of information on drugs and medicines in use around the world. The team reviews over 100 journals issue by issue, as well as scanning electronic sources. Multicenter studies, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, anecdotal reports, and small studies. This edition covers an additional 175 drugs and gives preferential use of Recommended/International Names (RINN) for monograph titles. It also offers a clearer presentation of physical characteristics for pharmacopoeial substances and greater world-wide coverage of proprietary preparations. In addition it provides the usual coverage of drugs used clinically world-wide - including some veterinary drugs not used in humans - and other compounds used in medicine - including contrast media, diagnostic agents, disinfectants, medical gases, pesticides, radio pharmaceuticals and vitamins.
