Nominally, this 56 page booklet is about the Blaydon Races, made famous in the George Ridley song published in 1862, but it turns out to cover everything from favoured pubs to foxhunting. The original occassion for heats of horse racing at Blaydon was the fair-like atmosphere at something known as a hopping.
