Both Goya and Picasso were endowed with inquisitive, all-seeing and all-absorbing gazes - their power to retain and recall visual impressions was very acute. Both artists were effected by the work of Rembrandt. This book investigates the ways in which Goya and Picasso approached Rembrandt's oeuvre, appropriated his inventions, motifs, techniques, and incorporated them into their own works.
