The Brown Book, which forms part of the IChemE Forms of Contract suite, is specifically for civil engineering subcontracts in relation to work that is often required prior to the construction of the process elements of a process plant: access roadways, providing foundations and other non-process plant elements. The second edition has been brought into line with the rest of the millennium editions, made easier to run as a back-to-back contract with The Red Book, Lump-Sum (fourth edition), The Green Book, Reimbursable (third edition) and The Burgundy Book, Target Cost. This new edition includes:A new clause on related issues under main contract; Payment clauses improved by inclusion of provisional and prime cost sum, A better guidance section giving more detailed advice on compiling the contract plus useful pointers on using the general conditions.
