Product development in the ingredient market is described and solutions to some of the problems faced by ingredient manufacturers are proposed. The text also covers the use of computers for developing expert systems, cataloguing information and researching the literature for new product ideas. Other topics covered include the use of complaint analysis as a tool in new product development, package design and simplifying experimental design for more efficient trials.
