This new book is written for students becoming certified nursing assistants in long-term care institutions, hospitals or clinics, or certified home health aides. Special features make it especially useful for non-native English speakers and native speakers with a low literacy level. The text always takes into account the language and culture differences of the students. Vocabulary clearly distinguishes between English words/phrases that present problems to ESL students and required medical terminology. It includes language instruction aimed at communicative competence in the workplace.

Biografía del autor
Rita Frey is an Instructor in the Allied Health Certificate Program at Bunker Hill Community College in Charlestown, Massachusetts. This program prepares limited English speakers and native English speakers for jobs as nursing assistants in hospitals, clinics and nursing homes. She is also a staff nurse in the Emergency Department at New England Memorial Hospital in Stoneham, Massachusetts.
