The World Bank Group provides financial and technical assistance to developing countries around the world, designed to aid countries in reducing poverty, increasing economic growth, and improving quality of life. In partnership with more than 100 developing countries, the Bank Group is involved in a wide range of projects including in relation health and education provision, fighting corruption, agricultural support, road building and environmental protection. Other activities range from conducting economic research and analysis to providing financial and advisory services to governments and private enterprises. The second edition of this guide contains information on the World Bank's history and organisation, mission and purpose, as well as giving references to sources containing more detailed information, including annual reports, web sites and other publications.
