The Editor: Patricia J. Thompson is Professor of Education at Lehman College, CUNY. She is the founder and first Chair of the Special Interest Group (SIG) Ecological/Environmental Education of the American Educational Research Association; she was the convenor of the 1995 conference on which this volume is based. She is the author of textbooks on human ecology and has lectured widely on feminism and environmental issues in the U.S., Canada, Germany, Russia, and Finland.
