When Frederick Dellenbaugh was seventeen he joined Powell's Grand Canyon expedition. Francis P Farquhar calls this ''an excellent compendium of Colorado River history from the time of Ulloa and Cardenas to the Brown-Stanton expedition of 1889-90.
