Based on an ethnographic study spanning four years, this volume calls upon Bakhtinian theory to analyze storytelling in the Alcoholics Anonymous organization. The author explains how AA meetings provide an example of what Bakhtin meant by ""carnival"" and discusses the heroes found in AA talks.
