I feel that Part 1 is on a very high level of critical intellectual history, and that the exposition of Gestalt ideas is excellent, and in some respects original. All this amply justifies the book. Charles Hartshorne in "Philosophy and Phenomenological Research "(1954) Frondizi s book, as a critical and constructive analysis of the nature of the self from the standpoint of empirical philosophy, is a competent and timely contribution to this fundamental problem. Philip H. Phenix in "Teachers College Record "(1954)"
"A book for all scientific humanists to read and ponder... such a dramatic interpretation of self... is... suggestive of the kind of inter-pretation we need to make intelligible our moral situation."--Patrick Romanell in "The Humanist"
