SURVIVING by Jean Pond

Hardcover. Estado de la sobrecubierta: dj. First edition. TLS laid in from the publisher (Arthur W. Wang) to Madeleine L'Engle (Mrs. Hugh Franklin) dated March 8, 1978. "Dear Mrs. Franklin, I am pleased to enclose a copy of Jean Pond's Surviving which has just come off the press. Our publication date is April 28. We are very greateful for the comment you sent to Anita Haldon of our publicity department and as you can see we have used an excerpt from your letter on the back of the jacket. Again, thank you so much for your help". The book is the story of a courageous woman a loving family and triumph over a medical nightmare. 136 pages. The L'Engle 'blurb' used by the publisher on the back of the dust jacket: "Surviving . is a compelling, terrifying, and beautifully written book, and I think that anyone who has ever encountered a big city hospital as patient or visitor will identify totally with the author . Her story not only made me keep turning the pages, it shocked me into once more being aware of how the medical profession has slipped into being just that -- a profession, insterad of a life's vocation . I hope this book will have an enormously wide sale, and I'm grateful that it comes from the pen of a splendid writer." A very good copy in a very good jacket. Signed. Nº de ref. del artículo: 15291
