Adam Vines' Out of Speech: Poems offers a series of ekphrastic poems that consider paintings by a wide array of artists, including Hopper, Balthus, and Rothko. These poems utilize these works of art as a means to explore a range of thoughts, from the meaning of family and partnership to the fear of disease and isolation.
