SYNOPSIS: Does stitching with yarn over row after row of blank canvas sound tedious to you? It doesn't have to be - not the way authors Jo Christensen and Sonie Ashner teach it! You begin with a simple project on page 5, and learn by doing. Then you go on and learn different stitches by copying, or just using these ideas as guides. When you have completed each colorful project, you have learned stitches and executed a beautiful design at the same time! All those bugaboos that bother the beginning needlepointer are simply explained in these pages. How to start a new thread, how to block the finished canvas, how to create an original design and, most important, what to do with the completed canvas - these tips and more are included in this concise book. Clear diagrams illustrate over 40 stitches, including the popular Bargello stitch. The full-color pictures of completed objects - eyeglass case, doorstop, footstool, pillows and wall hangings - will inspire you to start stitching right away! If you already know a few basic stitches but were wondering how to use them - or if you have never before held a needle and canvas - or even if you have made several successful pieces but are searching for new ideas - needlepoint simplified is for you!
