Constant practice in the early stages of learning is vital in order for these habits to become second nature as you learn more and more characters.Essential help in learning to write the character is provided in diagrams showing its components and configuration, and above all, the stroke-order. Around the edge of each page, a set of 28 squares allow the user to first trace the character on top of the model, and then practice writing it independently.

Philip Yungkin Lee is a native speaker of Chinese, and a Senior Lecturer at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. He has published several language learning titles and has received a Teaching Excellence award from his university. He is also the author of Pocket Mandarin Chinese Dictionary, Essential Mandarin Chinese Phrase Book, Pocket Cantonese Dictionary and Essential Cantonese Phrase Book.
