SIGNED by the Author in both English and Korean. Esther Ahn Kim, born Ahn Ei Sook in 1908 in Korea, was a Christian missionary and author best known for her autobiography If I Perish. After refusing to bow to a Japanese Shinto shrine in 1939, she was imprisoned for six years during World War II, where she endured torture but maintained her faith and converted several fellow prisoners and guards. Following her release in 1945, she moved to the United States, married Don Kim, and co-founded the Berendo Street Baptist Church in Los Angeles. Her story became a national bestseller in Korea and Japan, and she spent her later years touring to share her testimony of suffering well for Christ until her death in 1997. Signed.
