Shortly after the Civil War breaks out, Clee Fahr arrives on the stage to Denver City, Colorado, a city torn by political factions. Eames Jeffords, an old enemy of Clee's from the South is buying arms for the Rebels. Born in the North, and with close ties to the South, Clee's sympathies are divided. But Jeffords sees Clee's presence in Denver as a threat to his cause, and so prepares an ambush that will assure that Clee won't ever give him - or anyone else - trouble. In Death Rides the Denver Trail, the conflicting loyalties of the Civil War are brought to vivid memory.
