This book describes the process of constructor prequalification and its advantages over other methods of constructor selection. The book provides a formalized constructor prequalification methodology, the main purpose of which is to avoid and prevent constructor failure. It also provides insights into experts' views on prequalification. Due to the subjective nature of parts of the evaluative process, many people in this field do not realize that prequalification can be a rational, structured, documentable, and defendable process, as presented in this book. It is intended for owners as well as constructors, who can apply these methods in the evaluation of subcontractors and major vendors.
Jeffrey S. Russell (PhD, Purdue University, 1988) is Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
