JavaScript is an Internet publishing language which allows all levels of user to create and insert Java applets into their home pages. This book teaches JavaScript using an informal approach and a three-part discussion of the language: an overview shows the reader what can be done; a look at the language itself shows the reader how things are done; and a presentation of real-world examples lets the reader see how to develop their own applets. The accompanying CD contains a series of sample applets, including: animated logos; a moving 3D world; a form allowing performance of complex currency rate conversions while on site; a multimedia weather forecast that updates images in real time; and hyperlinks to sports providers allowing the display of live sports score updates.
