"Mr. Leffingwell's encyclopedic knowledge of the topic, and of the players, helps immensely here, in separating the seminal from the trivial and in conveying the information concisely.... a worthwhile addition." - "The New York Times"

"This book details well this saga in a lavish presentation, along with an equally well-researched text with all the details that an enthusiast could wish for." - "Victory Lane" "Place Corvette Sixty Years on your coffee table and it s bound to be a favorite page turner, but better yet prop it in your lap and turn the pages slowly and learn everything you ve never known about the legendary two-seater." - Iveho.com"

"Author Colin Comer freely admits that he was captivated by the legend of the Shelby Cobra at a young age and remains so. As a Cobra owner, restorer and racer, he brings to his book insider knowledge, not only talking the talk but also walking the walk. Beautifully laid out with a plethora of nicely reproduced photos." - "Vintage Motorsport"

..".this is a very pretty book, both the exterior cover and the photos within. There is a lot of history here, and there's a lot of great anecdotal stories held inside. It's a few hundred pages of entertaining storytelling, and it's worth taking a week or two to read a few pages every night. You'll potentially learn a lot and you'll enjoy it." - "Hooniverse.com"

"In this book, Shelby Cobra - The snake that conquered the world Colin Comer takes us on the trail of Carroll Shelby's wild yet simple idea of putting gargantuan power into a relatively light car. This book was first published in 2011 under the title Cobra Fifty Years, so many fans out there will be familiar with it, but this is the Collectors Edition with updated material. For first timers, be assured that the $75.00 price befits a glossy 272-page book measuring 9.75" x 12" and packed with almost 400 superbly produced photographs (period and modern). In fact, if this was merely a picture book, I'd probably still say it was worth every cent. This may be the only Cobra book you'll ever need to own, and the fact that the late Carroll Shelby himself penned the Foreword to the 2011 edition would suggest this is the definitive work on this hallowed beast." - "RACER.com"

"Carroll Shelby died on May 10, 2012, a palpable loss to the automotive community. A car like his Cobra will never be repeated. If you hanker to know more about the machine that emanated a ground-shaking rumble from its side-pipes, and do not already own Comer's earlier "Shelby Cobra: 50 Years," you cannot do better than this superb book." - "Petrolicious"

Reseña del editor:

Shelby Cobra: The Snake That Conquered the World

In 2011, Shelby enthusiast Colin Comer wrote Shelby Cobra 50 Years; the book met with rave reviews, including Esquire magazine naming it "the greatest car book of all time." Shortly after its publication, Carroll Shelby and Phil Remington--the two most important men behind the Shelby Cobra--passed away. In the wake of this loss comes this special collector's edition ofShelby Cobra 50 YearsShelby Cobra: The Snake That Conquered the World.

The book recalls the early 1960s when Carroll Shelby, a Texas chicken farmer turned champion race driver, had the audacity to think he could start his own car manufacturing company. To further emphasize the gargantuan proportions of his confidence, Shelby decided his company would manufacture nothing but ultra-high-performance sports cars, beginning with the landmark Cobra, introduced in 1962. To the amazement of everyone, except Ol' Shel' himself, Shelby Automobiles succeeded beyond anyone's wildest expectations, building cars that would provide benchmarks for performance that stand to this day and winning world championships in the process.

Shelby Cobra: The Snake That Conquered the World is a complete history of Shelby's Cobra sports cars and firsthand accounts from the people who made the car the legend it is today. It begins with the events that led up to Shelby's decision to build a high-performance sports car, continues with the story of the production Cobra street cars and racecars, and wraps up with Shelby's continuation cars and an all new chapter with tributes to Carroll Shelby from Chuck Cantwell, John Morton, Henry Ford III, Kati Remington-Blackledge, and others, as well as new and updated material.

This special collector's edition includes stunning poster-sized gatefolds featuring artwork by Hector Cadamartori and is an officially licensed Carroll Shelby product.
